Set in the Hope Valley, Hathersage is most well known for its associations with Robin Hood since one of his "Merry Men", Little John, is reputed to be buried in the churchyard.

It also has many associations with the Bronte family, some of the local houses having been used in their books.

Hathersage is an excellent starting point for many walks in the area including the climb up onto Stanage Edge, or less energetic walks within the valley.
