Cycling in New Zealand, February 2006

For the whole of the month of February we cycled (mostly) part of New Zealand's South Island, clocking up almost 800 miles of riding. We took about 1,600 digital photographs in all, from which there can only be a very small selection presented here.

The map shows our approximate route and some of the places we visited, starting from Christchurch and heading across the Canterbury Plains and on to Wanaka, then over the Haast Pass and up the west coast to Greymouth and back to Christchurch over Arthur's and Porter's Passes. We were blessed with almost perfect weather throughout and very little rain. It was one of the most wonderful experiences we've had in our years of cycle touring. The scenery was amazing.
